Education
Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, 2014 — a U.S. accredited veterinary school on the island of St. Kitts in the West Indies. Undergraduate degree from Oakland University, Detroit area.
Certifications
Certified in Acupuncture and Food Therapy from The Chi Institute in Ocala, FL. Trained in dry needle, bio/aqua acupuncture, and electro-stimulation techniques.
Philosophy
As a doctor of Integrative Medicine, Dr. Alex strives to offer the best in both traditional medicine and eastern and western practices. She believes every pet is unique and deserves a personalized, fear-free approach to care.

Dr. Mittner moved to Northern Michigan in 2017 to be close to family and pursue her dream of having her own land and mini farm. When not working, chasing kids or chickens, she can often be found hiking with one of her dogs on the trails or enjoying one of the many lakes Northern Michigan has to offer.

Dr. Alex founded Parallel Healing Integrative Veterinary Care — a practice rooted in the belief that health and wellness encompass physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects. Located near Traverse City and the 45th parallel, Parallel Healing blended the best of traditional and alternative approaches to offer comprehensive, holistic care.
Today, Dr. Alex brings that same philosophy and passion to PetSmart Veterinary Services Traverse City — now with expanded resources, a full surgical suite, advanced diagnostics, and the backing of a trusted national brand.
